Daylight Saving

Comment Published at 14:1814:1813 comments13 comments186 Visits186 VisitsReport

Arghhhh, How is everyone coping with daylight saving ?

WHY OH WHY do they do it! Its already lighter at night. It means that it is too light way past bed time!

My boys go to bed with no problems at all until daylight savings starts- and this year it is early!!!!!!!!  I think it shouldnt start until the school year starts. No wait- I wish it didnt start at all. I loathe it.

It is now dark when i get up for my early morning walk instead of getting up to gentle light and birdsong ;-) Plus im exhausted anyway as ive been up way too late the night before.

The boys are happily playing outside at half seven and as its bright I let them go a little longer.... as a result they are not getting to bed until 9 (instead of 8). even then they take ages to settle- mine were still whispering (thats chattering toned down cos Mummy threatened to choose one of them to slepp out with the dogs if they didnt settle!) at 10.30 last night *sob* then i am behind in my routine and then i linger with a cuppa for my wind down time- way later than usual...etc etc.

Then the kids cant get up in the morning as its effectively an hour earlier (and they went to bed late)

I think it is the stupidest concept imaginable for families with school age children.

There I have had my rant ;-)

We are lucky
here in Queensland we have refused to have Daylight saving and I think that is one of the best things Queenslanders have pushed for . It becomes a problem if we go interstate and arent used to iit but that is not often so Queenslanders take a pat on the back

We're on the "other" side, too.
I can't remember it being so disruptive 6 months ago.  It did take us a couple of days to adjust this time, though.  DD insisted on waking up at an unseemingly early hour (when I leave for work).  So, when she does that, I have to wait till DH gets up and ready before I can leave.  Results in a compressed work day for me.  I felt like I was running around just trying to catch up.  Anyways, glad to add you on my list of friends.  Looks like this will be fun!

Sorry I love it...

I am sorry you don't like day light savings.. I must admit I love it....   I love being able to sit outside on the balcony longer with out having to turn the lights on and attract even more bugs.

Here when day light saving is over it gets dark around 5-5.30pm.....

Never mind only won't be to long before you know it it will be gone again...  The years are just passing by so fast now...

Is it different in Canada?
We turned the clock back one hour last week, so instead of getting dark at 6:30, it's dark at 5:30.  Did you turn the clock forward in Canada?

I used to love it to, so much more time to do things and enjoy, but now the kids are a little older, trying to get them to bed at the normal time is hell, its not night time mummy the sun is still out aghhh, mind you though they do sleep a little longer in the morning so thats kind of a bonus

Daylight Saving
It is oppositte in this side of the world. It's only 5:30 and it feels like we should be ready for bed!  My son is a bit better now, but it was tough the first day. He woke up way too early. My dogs had to adjust too, they acted like we were starving them to death when the usual time passed.

Ah yes- you people on the dark side *smile*, it sounds just as disruptive and difficult to adjust to!
